VIP karaoke in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City: what "VIP" means, what it costs, and how to choose

Search for VIP karaoke in District 1 and you mostly get ranked lists with no prices in them. This page is written by Luxury 21, a local karaoke on Bùi Thị Xuân near Ben Thanh market, so take it as one venue's view. In exchange we put our real numbers on the table and say plainly where another kind of venue will suit you better.

VIP karaoke room at Luxury 21, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City

The short version

A VIP karaoke night in District 1 for four people with hostesses runs from a few million dong at a Korean-run set-price venue to well over ten million at a local or Chinese-run KTV. At Luxury 21, a VIP room for four guests and four hostesses for three hours comes to 13,999,240₫ with everything included. Book ahead, ask for the total in writing before you go, and bring cash for tips.

Four kinds of karaoke you will find in District 1

The word "VIP" is used by all of them, so it says little on its own. What changes the bill is the kind of venue.

TypeHow it charges
Family karaoke (no hostesses)Room by the hour plus drinks; a bucket of beer is around 800,000₫. The cheapest night by far.
Korean-run KTVUsually one set price (room, drinks, snacks, hostess) known in advance. The lowest prices and tips of the venues with hostesses.
Local Vietnamese KTVEverything itemised: room per hour, drinks per bottle, food, tips. A bucket of beer is around 1,500,000₫. Mid-range tips; livelier rooms.
Chinese-run KTVThe most expensive rooms and the highest tips.

Luxury 21 is a local KTV. A Korean-run venue usually works out 15–20% cheaper for the same group; people pick local for the atmosphere. The full comparison is in local vs Korean-run karaoke.

What a "VIP room" actually gets you

Mostly space and finish: a bigger sofa, a larger screen and sound system, better décor, and more room for hostesses and staff. It is not a different service. Before you book, ask how many people the room seats; a "VIP" room that is too small for your group is worse than a large standard one.

At Luxury 21: standard rooms (690,000₫ an hour) fit about 3 guests plus 3 hostesses; VIP rooms (890,000₫) up to 8 plus 8; VIP 601 (990,000₫) takes 10–12 guests; and VVIP 602 (1,450,000₫) up to 20 plus 20. Photos are on the rooms page.

What a VIP night really costs: one table, line by line

Four guests, four hostesses, a VIP room for three hours, booked ahead:

ItemAmount
VIP room 890,000₫ × 3 hours2,670,000₫
Drinks 500,000₫ × 8 people4,000,000₫
Food and fruit1,500,000₫
Service charge (per room)500,000₫
Booking discount 10%− 867,000₫
VAT (10% on alcohol, 8% on the rest)696,240₫
Tips: madam and waiter + 4 hostesses (cash)5,500,000₫
Total13,999,240₫

Tips are almost 40% of that bill, and that is normal at a local KTV, which is why a bill that "looked cheap" by the room rate surprises people. For groups of ten or twenty, see karaoke for groups of 10–20.

How to choose a VIP karaoke in District 1

Get the total before you go. Ask for room, drinks, service charge, tips and VAT in writing. A venue that only quotes the room rate is the one that surprises you at the end.

Match the type to the night. Singing with friends: family karaoke. A fixed, predictable bill: Korean-run. A loud, game-filled night with hostesses: local. For business guests, see choosing a karaoke for business guests.

Check the distance from dinner. District 1 is small, but thirty minutes in traffic with guests is a bad start. Bùi Thị Xuân, near Ben Thanh market, is about ten minutes by Grab from most central District 1 hotels and restaurants.

Check the hours. Many venues open only in the evening. We open at 14:30 and close at 03:00.

Book the big rooms early. Rooms for 10–20 are usually one of a kind in each venue.

Is VIP karaoke in District 1 expensive?

It depends on the type. Family karaoke is cheap; KTVs with hostesses cost several million dong per table, most of it in tips and drinks. At Luxury 21 the total for 4 guests and 4 hostesses in a VIP room for 3 hours is 13,999,240₫.

Do I have to have hostesses?

No. At Luxury 21 hostesses are only for guests who ask for them, and each costs a 1,000,000₫ tip for three hours. The fixed 1,500,000₫ madam-and-waiter tip applies to every room.

Can I pay by card?

Everything except tips, with a fee of 3.2% on Visa and 4% on Mastercard and AmEx. Tips are cash only. Red (VAT) invoices are available; tips never appear on them.

Is there a minimum spend?

Yes, 3,000,000₫ for room, drinks and food together.

Do I need to book?

Walk-ins are fine, but booking takes 10% off the room, drinks, food and service charge, gets you an assigned manager, and gives you first pick of the rooms. Book on WhatsApp or Zalo at 0387 241 967, or with the booking form.

Will staff speak English?

In the room, English is the language that works best. Bookings can be made in English, Korean, Chinese or Vietnamese by message.
